Kindergarten Readiness Checklist
Beginning school is an exciting time for both child and parent! It marks the start of an important stage in a child's life. In today's classroom every child experiences challenges, heartbreaks and triumphs!
It is important to remember that a child's chronological age does not necessarily correspond to his or her developmental age. Every child is unique with a different rate of maturity. An academically bright child can have difficulty with the demands of classroom work and assignments if they do not have the developmental skills necessary to cope with these tasks. We can help by nurturing less tangible intellectual skills such as listening, observing, and investigating.
The following list of questions recommended by experts is an effective way to gather the parent input required for determining the four key areas of development - EMOTIONAL, SOCIAL, PHYSICAL, and INTELLECTUAL.
